Do dental hygienist people take out teeth OR they clean teeth and check for gum disease???
Question about Dental hygienist?
They help the dentist, they are license to do Local Anesthesia, Radiographs, Sealants, Scaling, Root Planning, and Cleaning are some of their common Procedures. they work under a dentist.
Reply:No they don't take out teeth. They are there to clean teeth, check for gum disease, check for cavities, and some are able to give injections if needed to numb you before deep scaling. Not all are licensed to do so.
Reply:Both of these are good answers
Reply:The hygienest are the ones that clean teeth in some states the assistant can do a basic cleaning but the hygienest do the "deep" cleaning and scaling and such. The dr diagnoses the gum disease however if the hygienest comes across something suspicious then they usually call the dentist in to come and examine it.
Reply:a dental hygienist works to a written prescription by a dental practioner. a dental hygienist carries out periodontal work..cleaning, scaling. advice. they can carry out local anaesthesia. if you've been referred to a hygienist its suggests that your teeth require cleaning or that gum disease has already been diagnosed.
a dental therapist however, still works to a written prescription by a dentist. they carry out the same work as a hygienist but can carry out extraction of deciduous (baby teeth) and fillings. essentially they do 70% of the work of a general dental practitioner, just not crown, dentures, implants or bridge work.
Reply:No one can do exts except for a dentist. Not assistants or hygientists.
Reply:They generally clean %26amp; check the teeth, do X-rays, and assist the dentist with dental proceedures...
Reply:Hygienists do NOT pull teeth! If they tell you they can do that procedure, get away from them - pronto! The hygienist's job is to clean teeth and to inform the dentist if they suspect any oral disease
