Should I go for DENTAL HYGIENIST or NURSING
Please advice dental hygienist career?
as a former rdh and current dds.i feel very comfortable answering this.in new mexico hygienists make 36 to 45/hr.colorado is similar and oklahoma, kansas, and missouri is a little less.every state varies on duties but i can assure you assisting the dds is NOT one of them.you can work 2-5 days a week still have time for family at alow stress job. what are the differences with nursing? ask a nurse .
Reply:I'd go for nursing personally. With dental hygenist school (depends where you go) can range from 2-3 years. With a nurse it may be 3-4. You make MUCH MORE money as a nurse as it's always in demand, and it's always a growing, changing career. Plus, you can become a nurse for many different kinds of care that people need. A dental hygenist is a nice way to go to school for a couple years and get a nice paying job assisting the dentist. You don't go ahead/excel a whole lot and pay-wise it can differ from what dentist you work for. Either of them will require a lot of study and hard work. They both provide care to people, but i think nursing is a very general position which gives you room to work different positions for different healthcares (clinics, hosp, retirement home, etc). It's not a preference really of what is better or what someone else likes..it's a matter of what appeals to you, and what/how you see yourself helping others.
Reply:Dental Hygienists can make good money, you can study at Kings college in london, it takes 3 years full time and costs £1,000 to take the course!
