Dental Hygienist. Do they really usually only work part time?

I am interested in going back to school for the Dental Hygienist

program, but I am wondering why I hear that they usually have trouble finding full time work. I would not want to work only part time?

Dental Hygienist. Do they really usually only work part time?
My wife is a hygientist and has done both types of assignments (FT with benefits, and PT both permanent and temp). She has NEVER had any issues getting a gig AND she usually gets between $30-$35 at minimum an hour. Get your degree and don't worry about employment prospects they are GREAT.
Reply:It just depends on where you live as to the availability of jobs. Every area is different. Some hygienists only want to work part-time, some full-time and some to fill-in work at different offices.
Reply:Believe me, hygienists don't have any problem finding work in most areas. However, most offices have part time hygienists due to the fact that when the doc begins practice there aren't enough patients for a full timer and then when the practice needs more hours from the hygienist they must hire another one as the one working there has another job. In other words, part time begets part time unless circumstances change. Don't sweat it though, you'll be able to work as much as you want.
