Does a dental hygienist pay depend on the degree?

Does a dental hygienist get pay better with a bachelor degree than a associate degree? If so how much more do they get pay? Also what is a good community college in California to get in an easy dental hygienist program? And if I get an associate degree, can I work in the school health or for the government company?

The pay is the same. Dentists don't care too much about which degree you have, only how good you are at your job. The bachelor's opens more doors if you want to go the corporate route and work for one of the big companies. Also, its important if you want to go into teaching or research. My wife got the Bachelor's version, because she might try to go corporate one of these days.
Reply:as far as i know fees are set
Reply:i would never hire a hygienist that didn't have a bachelors degree. if i hire someone to actually treat my patients i expect them to have the most advanced education available. if i didn't have a hygienist with a bachelors available then obviously i'm going to pay a little less to someone who is less educated.
Reply:Check out what you want below.

Hygienest are paid one of two ways. Once they are both equally licensed everything else should be equal. Further education might help you advance into management, tailor that to fit what you would like to do (e.g. dental sales, managment, training, etc)

An hourly rate with some performance goals

A production rate, which is basically a commission rate on patients see.

Why a production rate? Well its not to push people through. Instead its to keep busy. Dr. Offices are really selling time. So unsold time equals a loss of money. A good hygienest keeps her schedule full but having a large recall base. That is patients she has seen before and keep coming back. If she does everybody wins, especially the patient.
Reply:Yes. Their education level is highly important just as in any field.
