If you were a dentist, would you hire a male dental hygienist or have seconds thoughts? In other words would I be at a disadvantage trying to get hired as a male dental hygienist?
Male dental hygienist?
That should not be a problem. With the salaries that dental hygienists earn- you should have no issues. In most areas the demand surpasses the availability. Qualified people regardless of gender are needed.
Look back at the nursing field, in a female dominated area, a male candidate is typically hunted down and can basically get what they want. My A%26amp;P teacher said that while his classmates had to hunt down jobs (25 + years ago) he had 5 offers before he had finished the first half of his last year in school. Since he was the only male in the program at the time, everybody knew who he was.
My father received his RN 15 years ago and worked 5 years as a part-time person. He has since retirered and is still getting at least 5 calls a week from nursing recruiters.
Reply:I'm not a dentist but I think you would be fine. In today's society one can be whatever you want. There are many male nurses (just watch scrubs) so why not a dental hygienist?
Reply:I don't see why not. I have to admit I've never seen a male dental hygienist, but if you're qualified I'm you shouldn't have a problem.
